About Investing for Impact 2018
Investment markets have a critical role to play in the global move towards large scale social and environmental change. In the UK alone there is need to dedicate efforts and capital to rescue suffering public services from increasing affordable housing, aiding strained NHS resources to relieving pressures from an ageing population. From a global perspective, the difference that could be made is vast. With bigger commitments to raising funds and a rising number of business leaders and entrepreneurs taking a wider view of what their role in society might be, what are the realistic goals to help address some of our most pressing social and environmental challenges? What are the obstacles to financial and impactful success? Can millennials be trusted to put their money where their mouths are?
How far has the impact investing community come since last year's Impact Investing Summit? What are the key areas that need to be focused on? As with the previous Economist summits on investment and impact, speakers and audience members will include leaders from the world's premier financial institutions, wealthiest families, largest companies, innovative startups and most influential foundations. The conversation and debate will be challenging, cutting through the hype to focus on the real issues that will determine whether investing for impact remains niche, or is becoming a revolutionary agent of global change.
